Department for Sport

Article 31 (leisure, play and culture) Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities. 

Young Leaders and Little Leaders within the Department for Sport  have an incredibly important role within school. They are responsible for engaging pupils in physical activity, competitive sports and promoting health from a sporting perspective at Gorsefield Primary School. The Department for Sport consists of representatives from Early Years and Key Stage One (Little Leaders) and representatives from KS2 (Young Leaders).  The Department of Sport also has a department lead who support, guide, approve and help implement decisions made within the department. The Department of Sport's lead is Mr Moore. Mr Moore is also Gorsefield's physical education subject leader.

The Department for Sport meet at least once per team (usually more!) and a member of the department takes minutes and records what the team are working on, the actions towards this and any next steps.  

The Department for Sport are current working on: 

  • Interschool sporting competitions for all pupils to engage in competitive sporting events. 

If you would like to join the Department of Sport as a Young or Little Leader, please complete the application form below and hand it in to your class teacher. Mrs Onyekaba and the Department Leads will read your application form and write back to you with an out outcome.
