Gorsefield Digital Leaders

Our Digital Leaders Program empowers pupils across three progressive tiers: Bronze builds core iPad and digital skills; Silver develops creativity through media projects like podcasts; and Gold positions pupils as e-safety educators and role models. Each award enriches the curriculum, fostering independence, leadership, and confident, responsible technology use.

Bronze (Foundation Skills)
The Bronze Award is the entry point for our Digital Leaders Program and focuses on establishing a secure foundation of digital literacy. In this tier, pupils learn the essential skills required to confidently navigate and operate an iPad, including launching and closing apps, saving work to Teams, screenshotting, editing, and managing accessibility and battery settings. Through structured exploration and a final project - creating a “How to Use an iPad” presentation for younger children - pupils not only deepen their knowledge of core functions but also develop their confidence in explaining and demonstrating their skills to others. This award builds directly on the computing curriculum and enriches classroom learning by empowering children to become confident, independent digital users. The Bronze Award ensures that by the end of Year 4, pupils have the fundamental tools and experience to progress to more creative, collaborative, and advanced projects in the Silver and Gold tiers.

Silver - (Mastery Through Media)
The Silver Award builds on the foundational skills of Bronze and allows pupils to apply their digital knowledge with greater creativity and purpose. At this stage, pupils explore expert applications to plan, record, edit, and animate their own media. Their final project - a podcast featuring interviews with current and past pupils as well as staff celebrates Gorsefield’s values, memories, and community spirit. Pupils develop advanced technical skills such as audio recording, editing, and synchronising animations with spoken content, while also honing their ability to plan, storyboard, and collaborate. This tier not only requires mastery of a wide range of apps but also challenges pupils to combine them into a polished final piece. The Silver Award enriches the school’s curriculum by giving pupils a meaningful platform to share stories, preserve the school’s history, and celebrate its achievements through high-quality digital media.

Gold – (Educators and Innovators)
The Gold Award is the culmination of the Digital Leaders Program and challenges pupils to take on the role of educators, using their mastered digital skill set to support and inspire others. This tier focuses on creating engaging educational resources to teach younger pupils about the crucial topic of online safety. Pupils design and deliver a full e-safety package that includes posters, presentations, coding games, and interactive quizzes, alongside the planning and delivery of workshops. In doing so, they deepen their ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively, while developing leadership, creativity, and responsibility. By leading workshops and designing tools for others, pupils not only consolidate their own learning but also make a meaningful contribution to the wider school community. The Gold Award enriches the curriculum by positioning children as confident role models who empower others to use technology safely, responsibly, and with creativity.
