Race Equality
Gorsefield Primary School is a member of Greater Manchester Race Equality Panel, which draws together the work from school leaders across Greater Manchester in response to the evolving needs of our communities, dialogue and information by lived experiences and shares best practices in advancing race equality within our educational institutions.
Race Equality Panel acts as a catalyst for meaningful change, committing to translating learning into action, and to fostering environments where every child, family, and staff member is valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
In action, the work of the panel seek to address the following areas:
- Give practical support in understanding what Race Equality means in practice in our schools;
- Providing a framework that schools can use to assess their practice against a series of competences and gives guidance as the best ways to do this;
- Providing a series of case studies drawn from our schools for other school leaders.
As a partner in Greater Manchester Race Equality Panel, we pledge that we will do all that we can to empower our school communities in Greater Manchester to build Race Equality through:
- recognising the strength of valuing a diverse community;
- reflecting on our practice and acting when we can do better;
- ensuring greater awareness of the power and dignity of diverse communities;
- valuing and fostering a sense of belonging;
- developing equality of opportunity to ensure achievement and success.
